Mumford Day Two
Abi and I went to Lush Blow Dry Bar to get our hair done before the concert today! Time to change, make-up, and hit the road with the girls to Guthrie!
We made it! What a wonderful line-up today! We spent the afternoon gallivanting around meeting new people and taking it all in! I will write more about how wonderful the concert was here… but first I am going to do a post with photos walking you through our concert experience!
Ended the concert with “come together, right now, over me”! All the bands!!

Traffic Court
This morning I spent my time in traffic court. Not because I got a ticket, but because I was resolving the traffic tickets of others! It was a fun? experience, which I am supposed to re-live the the first and third friday of every month. Basically I grabbed a paper, called a name, asked how do you plea, and then gave the person an extended period of time to pay off their ticket. The majority of issues included driving without a license (or with a suspended license), driving without insurance or registration (or both), and minor traffic offenses. Fortunately for me (and those whose tickets I held), the actual assistant district attorney (ADA) sitting in front of me acted as a wonderful sounding board for all of the cases where I was unsure of the proper resolution. I think out of the 20 people I talked to, I dismissed one case without costs, but the guy had a pretty good story and proof on how the database was incorrect and his license was never suspended. I was nervous going into traffic court, but I received a crash course yesterday, and the ADA giving me the course said the worst thing I could possibly do would be to dismiss a speeding in excess of 25mph without costs and even then no one would probably know, so it would be okay. I find new things about my job that I enjoy every day! Minus the fact that traffic court starts at 8am, which is very. early.
Get excited for my next few posts which will include my weekend in Guthrie for the Gentlemen of the Road Tour! with Abi, Allison, Mitch and my cousin and her friend! I am soooo excited!
Taylor’s Birthday

Today was Day 3! My mom came into town this morning with gifts galore! My dad made homemade spaghetti sauce! So I now get to organize an evening with friends where I will serve a lot of spaghetti (6 jars worth)! Maybe I will call it Italian night 🙂 I introduced my mother to Cool Greens this afternoon.

I took her downtown for lunch before I had to be at the DA’s Office. She loves the idea of my new life choices and supports my new diet, which is wonderful (but not surprising, she supports everything I want to do!)
Tonight we hosted a surprise celebration for Taylor’s 29th birthday! We had dinner and drinks at The Wedge on Western! Michael and I built our own pizza with gluten free bread, roasted red bell peppers, arugula, pepperocinis, jalapeños, and kalamata olives! It was delicious!

Taylor’s girlfriend Britan had a cake made in his honor, in the shape and color of a Thunder jersey! I love evenings with great friends and great food, all topped off with a bottle of delicious merlot!
Day three was wonderful, but I have to go conduct traffic court tomorrow at 8am for Oklahoma County so it is time for some sleep!
Good night world!

Made It Through Day One
So yesterday was day one if my life style change. I re-read the first chapter of the book to remind myself why I dis not want turkey in my salad, and why I was not going to get Orange Leaf for dessert.. I woke up this morning feeling pretty good? Normal, but not tired. They say that after you start eating clean you feel better overall, but I assume it’s going to take longer than one day.
This morning I got up, showered, and took my roommate to Starbucks for her 24th birthday! Breaking News! They have a new cup size? They call it treinta.. They will serve you any zillion calorie frappachino in a treinta sized cup. I ordered unsweetened passion tazo tea in the new size. Very delicious. But I think my body would have a panic attack if I tried to drink the same size java chip frappachino.
Today, I have income tax and then I will use the wonderful Lululemon Om Finder app to find a yoga class! Here is to a wonderful start to Day Two

Update on My Life
I am going to try and actually keep my blog updated! I have a little more free time this year since I have officially started my last year of law school! (3L Year!) It seems like I was sitting in orientation yesterday, but less than a year from now I will have sat for the Oklahoma bar. I am currently working for the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office in the civil division (which I love!) and for the law school library. I am taking 16 hours this semester, including antitrust, nonprofit organizations, income tax, Oklahoma legal research, and trial practice, a schedule which has proven to be wonderful so far.
I would say at 25 years old, my life is exactly where I want it to be! Michael and I have been together for over two years!
Over a year ago I rescued a beautiful black lab/german shepard/greyhound mix named Moose, whom I would not trade for the world. He and Michael’s rescue pup Petey are best friends. And this time next year, I will be DONE with the bar exam, waiting on the edge of my chair for my results.
Now that I’m done bragging, things that are not where I want them to be: my weight, my flexibility, my spirituality. When I started law school I was 155 lbs. Today? 200. This means that over the next six months I need to lose 45 lbs (somewhere between 6-8 lbs./mo. 1-2 lbs/wk). I think this is a completely plausible goal, and a necessary goal since bar studying starts at that time and I do not need to be in the habi
t of stress eating when going into (possibly) the most stressful six months of my life. The Bar Exam. So, my plan is to keep myself accountable by updating you on my progress, my slip-ups, and my success. Before and After Pictures will follow! So here goes!
Here is the Before…
… and the After
Gotta move back to the Before!
Going Green
Over the past few years, I have been flirting with the idea of becoming a vegetarian. (Don’t tell my father, he would have a heart attack; I was raised on meat and potatoes.) I tried being vegan for a few months but in the end, it was too difficult because I was (am) a very picky eater. I wasn’t one of those children who tried everything. I was one of those children who would chew up my food and then spit it on my plate because it was “gross.” My pallet has changed a lot this year.

I don’t know if it is because I am actually trying food before adhering to the preconceived notion that I will not enjoy the food, or if my preferences are changing.
I heard somewhere that your taste buds/pallet changes every seven years. Anyway, I’ve decided to try it again and I’ve heard that reading this book will give me the strength to part from meat. This past week I bought the book “Skinny Bitch” by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin.
I’ve been skimming through the book and really started reading it over the weekend, and let me tell you, those people? they were right. I’m only on chapter six but so far my desire for meat has vanished. Now, reading for fun during law school is a challenge in itself, but this book is such an easy fun read (outside of the animal slaughter stories I just finished) that it makes staying up late worth the loss of sleep. I can live without steak, and pork chops, and even bacon, but I love Chick-fil-a. I think I will have to read and re-read the parts about chickens being riddled with disease and the torture in slaughter houses to break the desire for crispy nuggets. Maybe one day they will make tofu nuggets with the heavenly breading, frying, and sauce; it’s not like the nuggets actually tasted like chicken in the first place.
Anyway! Here is to Day One of eating green and healthy!
